Behind the Stax
The Official Bitchin' Entertainment Newsletter - Sept. 2006

Bitchin' Entertainment Artists News:

Inspired by the success of the Label Ready Artist program we've decided to expand it with the creation of the Atlanta Label Ready Artists addition. If you are one of Atlanta's finest recording artists then we'd like to hear from you.

Tin Roof - Generator

Tin Roof, is our first artist inclusion into the Atlanta Artist program. This band's continuing cutting edge performances at all the premier clubs in Atlanta have gained them a reputation as one of Atlanta's top rock bands.

Chris Scissilliano (Virgin) is working with the band and they're preparing to shoot their first music video for "Stay". They are being looked at by Virgin, Universal, Aware, Sony/Columbia. Universal(Bill Richards) has Andy writing for some of their artists. The affiliation with Bitchin' has brought about an opportunity to write for internationally signed artists that will propel Andy and Tin Roof into the mainstream.

Jon Prophet - A New Religion

Jon Prophet is not unlike that old time traveling preacherman summoning the tired and weary to his pulpit for an evening of salvation. A self-described saint born in a city of sin writes and performs music that offers a sweet tonic for the trials and tribulations of the human heart.

This brand spankin' new CD from Jon Prophet will leave you feelin' the healin'. "A New Religion' is an excellent CD with songs that you can never get tired of." says Tony Sison -All Access Magazine. This is another eclectic romp through the soul stirring terrain of tasteful and groovy, aggressive alt rock, Americana and neo folk.

Jon is currently in the studio recording a follow-up to "A New Religion".

Introducing Gentry Morris - The Bare Bones and Bad Ideas EP

This indie rocker describes himself as ordinary but there's nothing ordinary about the catchy little tunes that Gentry writes and performs.

Just recently I had the opportunity to meet Gentry and catch one of his performances outdoors on a hot Georgia night. During his performance there was the most beautiful display of a waxing luna moon shining directly above his head. I just smiled and lowered my eyes to Gentry as he sang out "I've got a box of photographs and memories hidden safe beneath my bed" to the small crowd knowing that the moon overhead symbolized great things ahead for this talented young man.

Meet Our Friends

Charlotte Anne Thomson is an artist & illustrator working out of Nottingham (UK). She specializes in figurative work, from realistic portraiture to graphic illustrative styles. A self confessed culture junkie, she takes huge inspiration from the world around her. She is an avid collector of movies (from Gene Kelley musicals to Video Nasties) and anything kitsch or 1940s - 50s in style.

Charlotte has exhibited and sold her artwork internationally and has been featured in 'Artists & Illustrators Magazine' and 'All Allure' a book of contemporary erotic art.

You can view more of Charlotte's work at Abacus Creative Management LLC.

When you've gone to great expense and selected the best producer and studio for your recording project why sell yourself short on your CD packaging? Check out our friends at GCID, short for G. Carr Illustration & Design. This is a graphic design team based in Denver, Colorado but work with recording Artists nationwide.

They're most known for their unique cd packaging - they don't do jewel cases unless begged, pleaded with and heavily bribed. Their work has won numerous design awards. Although a little off center, just ahead of the curve & tons of fun at a party. Visit their Myspace and ask for Heather.

Podcasts

This months podcast focus is on the Soupy Gato Show. Daniel's been doing a great job of playing the Bitchin' artists. He's always looking for new mp3's to play and since he doesn't download from myspace or other sites he's reliant on artists sending them to him.

Concerts News

Bitchin' Entertainment booked the legendary Vinx for the Jam for Cure leukemia benefit on August 26 at the Suwanee Amphitheater. What a complete joy watching this man perform.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure and the experience of Vinx, he is a charismatic performer whose only instrument, besides his incredible voice, is a drum. Living in Georgia, he is well-known throughout the southeast as a solo artist and as the former percussionist/background vocalist for Sting.

I'd like to thank Vinx and his southeast booking agent John Laird for helping us out in a pinch.

Interview with Daniel Anderson

Daniel Anderson is a 22 year old guitarist/songwriter. If you happen to get into a discussion with Daniel about the music biz, expect to be thrown a curveball because I can guarantee you won't be ready for his understanding of it.

I took an interest in Daniel when he was about 16. I've watched him grow and develop into an expressive and proficient musician. He has surprised even me in what I call his "jazz experimental" phase but if you ask him about his talents he'll tell you he's just a guitar player, a very misleading self-observation. Daniel is seeking career opportunities and is very interested in finding musicians to form a performance and songwriting team. He is also available for studio work.
