FTC Asks Court To Shut Down Illegal Pyramid Operation BurnLounge

On June 6, 2007, the FTC filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against BurnLounge, Inc. The complaint charges that BurnLounge sold opportunities to operate on-line digital music stores that was, in fact, an illegal pyramid scheme. The agency is seeking a permanent halt to the illegal pyramid practices as well as other illegal practices alleged in the complaint.

According to the FTC, BurnLounge recruited consumers through the Internet, telephone calls, and in-person meetings. The sales pitch represented that participants in BurnLounge were likely to make substantial income. BurnLounge recruited participants by selling them so-called "product packages," ranging from $29.95 to $429.95 per year. More expensive packages purportedly provided participants with an increased ability to earn rewards through the BurnLounge compensation program.

The BurnLounge compensation program primarily provided payments to participants for recruiting of new participants, not on the retail sale of products or services, which the FTC alleges would result in a substantial percentage of participants losing money.

The FTC specifically alleges that the defendants operate an illegal pyramid scheme, make deceptive earnings claims, and fail to disclose that most consumers who invest in pyramid schemes don't receive substantial income, but lose money, instead. These practices violate the FTC Act, the agency alleges.

Ashleigh Flynn, Darling Of The NW Americana Scene, Hits Road For Summer Concerts

Ashleigh Flynn, often called the darling of the NW Americana scene, is heading down to Manchester, Tennessee, to showcase her talents at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. The 6-year festival is a 4-day, multi-stage, camping fest held on a 700-acre farm in Tennessee. Flynn, who hails from Kentucky, was invited to play the festival upon winning the OURSTAGE.com online music competition sponsored by PASTE Magazine. Flynn will go from Bonnaroo up to the Northeast to perform at the Boston Pops Third Annual EDGEFEST CONCERT SERIES SATURDAY, 23 JUNE, at Boston's Symphony Hall Show starts at 8PM - Flynn on at 10 in the after hours cafe. Flynn will join the COWBOY JUNKIES and conductor KEITH LOCKHART on Saturdy 23 June 2007. M. WARD will also headline this year. EDGEFEST seeks to attract crowds of independent and alternative music enthusiasts to the symphony by offering a hip blend of indie rock and the orchestral traditon. Previous concerts have featured AIMEE MANN, MY MORNING JACKET and GUSTER.

A few weeks later, Flynn will be head to Quincy, California, to play the High Sierra Music Festival. The 2007 festival, 4 July-7 July, located in the Northeastern corner of the state, will feature national and international acts . Considered one of the finest showcases for emerging artists in the country, Flynn will play 2-showcases a day on the 5 & 6 July 2007.

The Love Kills Theory's Leader Cevin Soling Places Song On A&E TV Series

Cevin Soling announces that his song, "Buffalo" will be used in the closing credits of the new A&E TV series, CONFESSIONS OF A MATCHMAKER. "Buffalo" was recorded and released by Cevin's first band, The Neanderthal Spongecake on its 1998 album, THE SIDE EFFECTS OF NAPALM. The group, which includes members of the band Scary Chicken winced when they looked at the lyrics, "Grass is brown....skies are gray." Cevin says, "They knew it was funny, but they were unknowingly complicit in making fun of their hometown. There is a homage to the band with the line 'see a Scary concert.'"

CONFESSIONS OF A MATCHMAKER is a real-life comedic series starring matchmaker Patti Novak, who has been warming the hearts of Buffalo, New York residents with her no-nonsense style of though love for years. Stonez Turns To Mobile Phones To Reach US Listeners

Trinidad's preeminent DJ/Producer Lyndon Livingstone, aka Stonez in the DJ world, has joined Focuson the DJ, the first-ever syndicated mix show channel streaming music 24/7 over cellular phones. Starting in June, Stonez will stream a monthly mixshow based on his weekly radio show on Worldcast Radio. Boosweet Records Sign Rock Star Kiko Loureiro Of Angra

Boosweet Records CEO and President Vernon Neilly has signed the international rock guitar virtuoso Kiko Loureiro. Boosweet Records will release Kiko's products in the USA, Canada, Australia, South and Central America; with the exception of the guitarists home country Brazil. The deal provides Boosweet Records all of the digital rights to Kiko's music internationally.

Kiko Loureiro has risen to international acclaim and stardom by being the lead guitarist of the world-renown Brazilian rock group Angra.
