Max - Our Celebrity Pet of the Week

Well, I'm six years old - a Shih Tzu. I have an older sister named Chelsea who is also a Shih-Tzu but she doesn't like me that much. I think I'm pretty likeable and obviously smart, but she's beyond the likes of me. My love is unrequited. My favorite thing to do is play fetch. I can fetch long after your arm is sore from throwing my toy. I also love to eat. Maybe more than fetch. I pretend I'm starving every day so someone will take pity on me and give me a morsel to eat. And when I get fed, I don't chew my food as much as I become "one" with my food bowl and then suddenly it's empty--in record time. Sometimes I get into things I'm not supposed to. I've been known to eat a bag of in-the-shell pistachio nuts or a nectarine pit. Man, that is murder on the digestive system. I don't recommend it. Doesn't mean I wouldn't do it again though. Those are some tasty nuts!

My mommy is a really really funny writer and she does her job from home so I get to bug her for food and fetch all day long. She loves me a lot so she never gets mad. And at night we spoon. I'm the little spoon.

My mom's first novel, "Stupid and Contagious" comes out this MAY! You can visit her website at Caprice Crane and from there you can also get to Amazon where you can pre-order the book!

The best part about her site is that I have my own advice column so I encourage you to stop by and ask me questions. (I know a lot!)

My grandma is really nice too. And she's a famous TV actress (visit mom's website to discover who grandma is) so sometimes people recognize her when we go for walks, but most of the time they're noticing *me* because I'm so handsome.

Oh, and when I got spayed... I woke up from my anesthesia in record time! The doctor laughed because my mom was so worried and he called her to tell her that I popped up right after like nothing had happened!

So, Happy New Year Everybody and please...be sure to sign my mom's mailing list so you'll know when her book comes out.

The Puppy Poem

Now I lay me down to sleep
The king size bed is soft and deep
I sleep right in the center groove
My human being can hardly move
I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me, or dares intrude
Till morning comes and "I want food"
I speak up slowly to begin
And nibbles on my human's chin
She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth
I'm a puppy, don't you see?
For the morning's here and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way
So thank you God for giving me
This human person that I see
The one who hugs and holds me tight
And shares her bed with me at night.
