Happy Valentine's Day

Stewart - Pet of the Week

Meet Stewart! For anyone who's ever wondered about my heart and what it looks like, now you know. Stewart is an adopted salt and pepper mini schnauzer and the absolute love of my life.

Stewart weighs in at a whopping 11.9 pounds and will be 12 years old in June. (you're all invited to his birthday bash) He was born in a puppy mill in Missouri and sold in a petstore in Rome, Georgia. He became my furkid at the age of 6 and has taught me the meaning of unconditional love. Stewart shares his home with 3 other furkids who are all equallly important in the lives of myself and my husband. (they'll each be featured in the future)

A first glance at My little Valentine will cause you to oooh and ahhh but be warned, there's another animal living underneath that exterior and it's called piglet..yup...eats more than anybody in the house and has actually been known to take food right from the mouths of others. A large portion of his day is spent eating and/or grudgingly watching others eat. His little ears are always perked for the sound of someone in the kitchen. He once ate 5 prunes which caused him much pain. He walked around the house groaning with his little body bowed up. I rushed him to the vet who laughed and said that he would be ok but it wouldn't be pretty when the prunes did their job. His two favorite people foods are celery and banannas. He enjoys the occassional game of catch with bits of food or kibble and he's a really good catcher.

Besides being held., Stewart's favorite thing in the world is riding in the car. If I grab a coat, purse, or keys, he's ready to go. He's so cute, he'll spin in circles and then try his best to jump into my arms, that little nub of a tail just a waggin'. Although he prefers my lap as his seat, he really doesn't care which seat he ends up in as long as he gets to ride. His favorite things to play with are stuffed toys. He gets a new giant bunny rabbit every Easter to play and he plays the stuffin's out of them.

Stewart sleeps in the bed with me, he's got a little ottoman that sits by the bed to assist him since he can't make those tall leaps anymore. He dives right underneath the cover and it's "lights out". In the morning he likes to snuggle, I think it's waking up to those big brown eyes staring into mine that gets my day started well. As soon as I open my eyes I see his widen and then the snuggles are on.

Heart Prints

Whatever our hands touch---
We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture,
On doorknobs, dishes, books,
As we touch we leave our identity.

Oh please where ever I go today,
Help me leave heartprints!
Heartprints of compassion
Of understanding and love.
Heartprints of kindness
and genuine concern.

May my heart touch a lonely neighbor
Or a runaway daughter,
Or an anxious mother,
Or, perhaps, a dear friend!

I shall go out today
To leave heartprints,
And if someone should say
"I felt your touch,"
May that one sense be...YOUR LOVE
Touching through ME.
